Kitchen Basics: Seasonings & Flavorings - Thurs PM

Kitchen Basics Class (this class is a repeat of a kitchen fundamentals class which has been offered before)

In this fun class, you will explore the fundamentals of food seasoning and flavoring with Chef Amy. Have you ever felt that your home-cooked meals are missing the full flavors you enjoy at a nice restaurant? Are you confused by what exactly a recipe means when it says “season to taste”? This class will explain all you need to know about using seasonings to balance your dishes between five tastes: salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and umami (savoriness). Amy will also cover the basics of herbs and spices and discuss common flavor profiles from many world cuisines. This fun class will feature a number of interactive “before-and-after” tastings so students may learn experientially about seasoning – don’t miss it!
